Brindisi souvenirs: what to take home
Gifts that really taste of Brindisi, from its dialect to its landmarks

A souvenir you can recognise
A magnet that says «Puglia» is the same from Bari to Santa Maria di Leuca. A souvenir of Brindisi should speak of Brindisi: the words you hear in the street, the proverbs people have always repeated, the landmarks you see from the harbour. Here is what to take home, with prices from the Brindeasy shop.
The words of Brindisi
Some words of the Brindisi dialect have no translation: in Italian you would need a whole sentence. They ended up on our fabric pouches, which hold make-up, keys, phone and documents (€15).
- Mena: what you say to someone who is running late or overthinking. Come on, let's go.
- Priesciu: the happiness you can see on someone's face, after good news or when someone comes home.
- Spilu: the sudden craving for one thing only, which won't go away until you satisfy it.
If you want all the words together, there is the Parole Brindisine tote in organic cotton (€12). We explain them one by one in Words and proverbs of Brindisi.
Proverbs to wear
Two proverbs everyone in Brindisi knows, on the back of an organic cotton T-shirt (€25):
- Lu purpu si coci ’ntra l’acqua sua stessa: the octopus cooks in its own water. Said of stubborn people: no point insisting, they will get there on their own.
- A ci fatia na sarda, a ci no fatia na sarda e menza: one sardine for those who work, one and a half for those who don't. Brindisi irony in a single line.
For those who cook there is an apron with a Brindisi proverb (€28), and the Proverbi Brindisini tote (€12).
Landmarks in your pocket
The Sailor Monument, the 53-metre rudder you can see from all over the harbour, becomes a keyring 3D-printed in Brindisi (€5) and a water-resistant bookmark (€4), even if you read on the beach.
The Roman Columns, where the Appian Way ended, are illustrated on a T-shirt (€25), a tote bag (€12), a sweatshirt (€37) and a poster (€20).
For the sun and the harbour wind
Caps with the city's name cost €18, the denim bucket hat with sand-coloured embroidery €20. On a boat, on the beach or in town, it's the same hat.
If there's no room in your suitcase
A postcard from Brindisi costs €3: write it, post it, and it ends up on someone's fridge for years. The keyring and bookmark weigh just a few grams.
How to get them
Everything can be ordered online from the shop. Shipping in Italy costs €5.90 and is free from €80; we also ship to the European Union and the rest of the world. If you are still in Brindisi, collection from our premises is free: we email you when your order is ready.
