— Sunset over the sea

Where the sun sets over the sea in Brindisi, day by day.

Brindisi’s coast faces east: the sun rises over the sea and almost always sets over the land. But around summer, from some stretches of the north coast, you can watch it go down right into the water. Pick the day: the orange points are where it happens.

Frequently asked questions

Where can you see the sunset over the sea in Brindisi?

On the north coast, between Torre Testa and Punta Penne: from there, around summer, the sun sets over the sea to the north-west. The best spot is Punta Penne, where it happens for the longest period.

At what time of year?

From Punta Penne from late April to about 20 August; from the Torre Testa area only in the weeks around 21 June. For the rest of the year the sun sets further south-west, over the land. The map above tells you, day by day, where to watch it from.

Why does the sun almost always set over the land?

Because Brindisi’s coast faces east, towards the Adriatic: the sun rises over the sea and sets behind the city. Only in summer does it set so far north that it goes down over the sea as seen from the north coast.
