Palazzo Montenegro is a Baroque palazzo from the second half of the seventeenth century. It was built by a merchant family from Montenegro who, in Brindisi, changed their surname from Petrovich to Montenegro.
Look up at the central balcony: the corbels are full of grotesque masks and figures. The main portal is framed by two columns.
Today it is the residence of the Prefect, and over the centuries it has hosted illustrious guests: Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, King of the Two Sicilies, in 1797, and Joachim Murat in 1813.
