Brindisi's Greek Orthodox church is the heir to a long presence: from this port, which looks naturally towards Greece, the Orthodox community never left, and it also included Albanians and Slavs. The present building was put up from 1891, with contributions from the townspeople and from Tsar Alexander III.
You'll find it on Via Indipendenza, near the walls and the station. It is a simple neoclassical church, with inscriptions in Italian and Greek in gilded bronze and a small neo-Gothic bell tower with four pinnacles.
Today the community welcomes Orthodox believers from everywhere: Greeks, Russians, Romanians, Albanians. On feast days you'll see the Greek flag beside the yellow one with the double-headed eagle.
