In the middle of Piazza Cairoli, the Fountain of the Anchors is hard to miss. It was built in 1937 by the Acquedotto Pugliese, in Trani stone, in place of a smaller fountain known as the fountain of the frogs.
The design recalls the compass rose: four large anchors from which the water flows. A choice that says a lot about a city that lives by its port.
