The Palazzo di Città, the seat of the city council, was originally the convent of the Dominicans of the Maddalena. Charles of Anjou founded it in 1304, to thank the Preaching Friars who had given him a very rare book and out of devotion to Saint Mary Magdalene.
Suppressed in the French period, the convent stood empty until 1836, when a nobleman bought it and turned it into a grand residence. Today part of the palazzo is the town hall.
