In the middle of the roundabout stands the monument to Aldo Moro and the men of his escort killed in Via Fani. It was commissioned by the city in 1979 and made by Marcello Avenali the following year.
It is steel, about 12 metres high, made of two parts that move in a sinuous way: they represent the torn tree of life. A red line runs inside it, the victims' blood, and at the top the stylised birds are the ideals that keep flying despite the violence.
