Porta Lecce was the way in for those arriving from the south. Ferdinand of Aragon built it in 1464 and Charles V strengthened it in 1530: his coat of arms is in the middle, between that of Brindisi on the right and that of Ferdinando de Alarcón on the left.
Inside the gate are two rooms that served as powder magazines for the guard. The eastern walls running from here are the only restored stretch of the old circuit, though partly hidden by 1960s apartment blocks.
Above the gate is the Church of Christ: they're worth seeing together.
